Photoshop Retouching

This is a picture of my dearest Lebanese grandmother. This picture was taken in the early 1930′s.

The original picture was considerably damaged, I had not only to retouch but also reconstruct the areas of her mouth and neck, which were missing in the original image.

I used Photoshop CS4 and all I needed was the clone stamp tool and the blur tool.

Hi Anna, love your work! what I would like to see, or hoped for to see, is a short step by step approach in what you did to get from the old photo to the new.

Is this something you could add? Would be nice.

Keep up the good work! Bas

Hi Bas, that’s a good idea. The reason why I did not post a step-by-step is because it was so simple to do it! I only used the clone stamp tool to copy pixels from good areas into the bad areas (the image was zoomed-in considerably to help me with accuracy). Then I used the blur tool (with about 65% potency, sometimes only 30%) to help blend the color of the new/retouched areas and also to smooth the skin. You have to be careful and have a good eye, but that was it! Simple as that. But I still have the PSD file with both layers: the original un-retouched photo and the final photo. I’ll try to make a short step by step and add it to this post. :) Cheers! Ana.
